Why is the Providence-Swedish Health Alliance terminating its contract with Boeing?
While we remain aligned with the fee-for-value objectives of the Boeing contract, new and unforeseen economic realities made it prudent for us to exit the contract at the end of 2017.
Can Boeing patients still see their current provider?
Members who are currently in the Providence-Swedish Health Alliance Preferred Partnership product will remain in this product through the end of 2017. They will be able to continue using Providence-Swedish Health Alliance doctors and hospitals at the “in network” payment level if they enroll in one of Boeing’s standard options – the Advantage+ Health Plan, Select Network Plan, or Traditional Medical Plan – but the Preferred Partnership incentives will not apply.
Will the physicians and hospitals in the Providence-Swedish Health Alliance continue to be available in other Boeing plans?
Employees will be able to continue using Providence-Swedish Health Alliance doctors and hospitals at an “in network” payment level, but will no longer receive the incentives that have applied to the Providence-Swedish Health Alliance Preferred Partnership version of these plan options. These include lower paycheck contributions, lower costs for primary care office visits and generic drugs, and increased employer contributions to Health Savings Accounts (if eligible).
Does Boeing intend to offer any other system in Puget Sound as a replacement for the Providence-Swedish Health Alliance?
At this time, Boeing has no plans for adding or changing its other options in Puget Sound for 2018. The UW Medicine Accountable Care Network will continue as a Preferred Partnership provider in 2018.
How many Boeing employees and their dependents will be impacted?
There are currently approximately 11,500 Boeing employees and their dependents in the Providence-Swedish Health Alliance Preferred Partnership.
Where can I go if I have questions?
You can find out more on Boeing’s Preferred Partnership website at www.healthpartnershipoptions.com. Boeing employee questions can also be directed to Boeing by calling TotalAccess at 866-473-2016 and entering their BEMSID (Directions: When the system asks, “How can I help you today,” say “Health and Insurance” and have your TotalAccess password ready.)
